(KCBS) – KCBS Food and Wine Editor Narsai David reviews a new cookbook of recipes from farmers’ markets.
It’s written by Joanne Neft and Laura Kenny who are intensely involved in farmers’ markets throughout the year.
They put together an entire year of menus and recipes with products coming from farmers’ markets.
For this month, some topics include Berries Everywhere and Eating Independently, perfect for the 4th of July. This menu includes tomato gazpacho, cucumber and tomato salad, grilled New York steak with walla walla onions, sauteed dragontongued beans and green beans, corn and basil salad, and a fresh berry galette.
Now that farmers’ markets are everywhere this is a really clever idea. Before you head out to your local farmers’ market take a glance at these recipes and pick up the items you need for that particular menu.
Narsai David is the KCBS Food and Wine Editor. He has been a successful restaurateur, chef, TV host, and columnist in the Bay Area spanning four decades.
