Concord Grass Fire Prompts Evacuations

CONCORD (CBS SF) – Firefighters responded to a grass fire in Concord late Monday night, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District dispatcher said.

The two-alarm blaze was reported at 11:01 p.m. on property behind 1090 Discovery Way, near California State University at Hayward Contra Costa Center.

The fire prompted a brief evacuation of a number of homes in the area.

The grass fire was under control by 11:30 p.m. and no structures were damaged.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.
