Son Of Monterey County Sheriff Arrested On Meth Dealing Charges
PACIFIC GROVE (CBS SF) - The son of Monterey County's sheriff was arrested Tuesday morning after methamphetamine was found in his Pacific Grove apartment, a sheriff's commander said.
Jacob Scott Miller, 25, the son of Sheriff Scott Miller, was taken into custody after the sheriff's narcotics unit served a search warrant at 11:40 a.m. at Miller's apartment, located on his father's property, Cmdr. Jerry Teeter said.
Also at the home was Ryan Williams, 26, of Monterey. He was found with drug paraphernalia and marijuana, but was released from police custody, according to Teeter.
Miller was arrested on suspicion of possession for sale of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia, packaging and digital scales.
Teeter said it appears Miller was planning to sell the drugs.
Miller was booked into Monterey County Jail. He is in an isolated cell to avoid any risks because of his connection to the sheriff, Teeter said.
Teeter said Miller's father was not involved in the investigation, but had been told beforehand about the narcotics search warrant. Family members are not usually notified before warrants are served, Teeter said.
