Reporting Mark Seelig

REDWOOD CITY (KCBS) — A Bay Area community college is teaming up with state and local employment officials to offer some Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans a special opportunity. The program will focus on veterans interested in engineering degrees.

Many men and women who join the armed forces come home with a general understanding of engineering, just by the nature of the way the military is set up.

KCBS’ Mark Seelig Reports:

Amelito Enriquez is a longtime engineering and mathematics professor at Canada College in Redwood City. The San Mateo County Workforce Investment Board asked him to create an engineering program that would help local veterans develop a career in that field.
