Sunday Streets Back In San Francisco's Golden Gate Park

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- This weekend's "Sunday Streets" event in San Francisco will showcase activities and performances in Golden Gate Park and along the Great Highway.

"We are excited to present this popular route along San Francisco's coast for the second time this season," Mayor Edwin Lee said in a statement.

The event, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include the section of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive that is normally closed on Sundays between Stanyan Street and Crossover Drive. The street closure will extend west along John F. Kennedy Drive to Great Highway between Sloat and Lincoln Boulevards.

Activities and performances are scheduled throughout the day, including a show by Circus Bella, an open-air one-ring circus, at 12:30 p.m. at Golden Gate Park's Lindley Meadow near 36th Avenue and Spreckles Lake. The San Francisco Symphony will also perform at Sharon Meadow at 2 p.m., with pre-concert activities for kids beginning at 1 p.m.

Other activities include free skate rentals and lessons at the 6th Avenue Skatin' Place, RollerSoccer International roller skate soccer demonstrations, free Lindy Hop and swing dance lessons from 11 a.m. to noon, free bicycle tune-ups and a free JAMband Family Festival at the Park Chalet at 3 p.m.
