SAN DIEGO (CBS / AP) — The San Francisco Giants have placed outfielder Pat Burrell on the 15-day disabled list with a foot injury and purchased the contract of catcher Hector Sanchez from Triple-A Fresno.

Burrell has a strained right foot. He is hitting .233 with seven homers and 21 RBIs in 172 at-bats.

The 21-year-old Sanchez was hitting .305 with 12 RBIs in 23 games with Fresno. He began the season with Class-A San Jose and batted .301 with eight homers and 42 RBIs in 42 games.

To make room for Sanchez on the 40-man roster, the Giants put Mark DeRosa on the 60-day disabled list.
