Mother Holding Baby Punched, Robbed In San Leandro

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) - Police were asking for the public's help to find a man who robbed and assaulted a woman as she was getting her baby out of a vehicle in San Leandro Wednesday night.

The victim drove up to her home in the 1500 block of Anchorage Drive at around 10 p.m. with her 10-month-old baby and 18-year-old daughter, police said.

As the woman was removing her baby from the vehicle, a man grabbed her from behind and tried to grab her purse.

The suspect punched the woman in the face and threw her to the ground, according to police.

The victim's daughter tried to help her and screamed for help. The suspect ran away with the purse and was seen getting into a white four-door sedan with tinted windows.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The daughter also suffered minor injuries but did not require treatment.

The suspect was described as a black man in his early 20s who is between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a baggy T-shirt and pants.
