Woman Injured In Oakland Café Robbery
OAKLAND (KCBS) – Oakland police said four suspects are behind a robbery at the Gaylord Café in Oakland Friday night which left one patron injured.
The café, which sits at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and 41st Street, is normally filled with customers sipping on a cup of coffee or working on their laptops.
But barista Carin Greeves said Friday night, three young men walked in and looked rather suspicious after buying some ice cream.
KCBS' Margie Shafer Reports:
"They just looked a little fishy," she said. "Right before they came back in the second time, they were standing out in front looking up and down the street."
After eating the ice cream, they came back in the shop.
"They walked in slow and casual and then all of a sudden, they started to grab stuff and try to run," Greeves said. "People got up and tried to tackle them. One of the teens tried to pull out a gun and it went off."
The bullet ricocheted off something and hit a woman, who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
A van was waiting for the teens outside and police are still looking for the four suspects.
