Five Redwood City Boys To Stand Trial On Sex Assault Charges

REDWOOD CITY (AP) -- Four middle school boys accused of sexually assaulting two girls during a field trip to a Redwood City park are due to stand trial Monday.

San Mateo County prosecutors say the boys, who are between the ages of 12 and 14, are charged with lewd and lascivious acts on a person under the age of 14, sexual battery and false imprisonment.

The San Mateo County Times reports the alleged attack took place when the boys broke away from their school group during a field trip in March.

The names of the boys have not been released because of their age, but prosecutors say they attended John F. Kennedy Middle School.

A fifth boy has also been charged in the case. Prosecutors say he'll stand trial separately.
