About The Bay: Pacifica Boys Are World's Youngest Rock Band

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Rock and roll is here to stay. One reason is that an entirely new generation is playing it.

During his travels About the Bay, KCBS's Mike Sugerman listened in on a Pacifica band who must still toast their success with apple juice.

The band Haunted by Heroes met in daycare. The 11-year-olds play about two dozen live performances a year, at places including the famous Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles.

KCBS' Mike Sugerman Reports:

The members are influenced by bands such as Metallica and Led Zeppelin. They've been together three years already.

"All the people that survived the hard rock heavy metal years come out and really support them," said manager Brett Turner.

The band will play at the Blackbird Festival in Weed, California on July 30, and will play on the same bill next month with Public Enemy and Motley Crue.

"To those who rock, we salute you," Sugerman said. "Even those born in the 21st century."

You can hear Mike Sugerman's About the Bay reports on Mondays at 6:40am, 7:40am and 8:40am on KCBS All News 740AM and 106.9FM.
