President Obama Honors World Champion Giants At White House
WASHINGTON (CBS SF) - Monday was supposed to be an off day for the San Francisco Giants, but the World Series champions spent part of their day in Washington, DC with President Barack Obama as he hosted the team at the White House on Monday.

The moment in the presidential spotlight continues a long tradition of Major League Baseball champions visiting the White House.
President Obama hailed the Giants as baseball's "characters with character."
Obama was joined by a number of California lawmakers, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senator Dianne Feinstein, along with Giants great Willie Mays. Obama noted that Mays was a 23-year-old outfielder when the Giants last won the World Series.
The Giants wanted to visit President Obama in April, but he wasn't available.
Some of the fans at AT&T Park on Sunday, getting ready to watch the Giants play the Milwaukee Brewers, were unaware that it was President Obama's turn to 'fear the Beard.' Many of them said they're glad their team is finally getting its White House visit.

"Going to the White House to celebrate their World Series victory?" one man said. "You bet - very exciting."
A few of the fans have some wardrobe concerns for the team.
"I think it'll be exciting," one fan said. "The question is whether they wear flip flops or not."
