3 Killed In Oakland Weekend Violence

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Three people were killed in Oakland late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, police said.

A driver transporting a gunshot victim in their own car flagged down a medical emergency vehicle near the corner of 30th Street and Telegraph Avenue at 3:07 a.m. this morning, police said.

The victim, a 26-year-old African American woman, was taken to Alta Bates Summit Medical Center but died from her injuries. Investigators are interviewing witnesses to the incident.

A short time later, at 3:20 a.m. officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the area of 87th Avenue and G Street. Officials at Highland Hospital reported to police that a 21-year-old African American man had died from gunshot wounds, and police were able to determine that he had been shot at that location.

The two shootings followed one that occurred late Saturday night, at around 11:55 p.m., in which a male teenager was killed on the 9300 block of Sunnyside Street.

Police discovered the 16-year-old African American suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he underwent surgery, and later died, police said.

Police are currently investigating all three homicides, and no arrests have been made.
