Series Of Contra Costa County Wildfires Contained

KNIGHTSEN (CBS 5) --Firefighters have contained a cluster of grass fires that broke out in the Oakley and Knightsen area Thursday afternoon, burning at least one home and threatening others.

Reports of what appeared to be four to five separate fires began coming in to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District about 1:38 p.m., Fire Marshal Lewis Broschard said.

The fires were along railroad tracks near Knightsen Avenue and Eden Plains Road, Broschard said.

Information about the size of the fires or whether they damaged any other structures was not immediately available, but a fire dispatcher confirmed that the blaze was contained by 3:12 p.m.

KCBS' Margie Shafer Reports:

Firefighters from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire responded to the incident.
