4-Time SF District Attorney Hopeful Fazio Gives It Another Shot

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Criminal attorney and former prosecutor Bill Fazio has entered the race for San Francisco district attorney for the fourth time.

The addition of Fazio brings to six the number of candidates running for district attorney, including current D.A. George Gascon, who was appointed former Mayor Gavin Newsom and is considered the one to beat.

Fazio said he looked over the field, and decided that no one has his experience or qualifications.

KCBS' Barbara Taylor Reports:

"The candidates who are in the race have no experience, practical or otherwise," said Fazio. "I'm the only candidate who has been both a prosecutor and a defense attorney in San Francisco, and has tried cases in San Francisco."

Fazio has been one of the top vote-getters in his three previous campaigns for district attorney and brings a well-known name and face to the race.

Unlike Gascon, a former police chief, Fazio spent 20 years as a prosecutor, including many as the top homicide prosecutor in the San Francisco D.A.'s office.
