Body In Burning Car On Marin Coast Identified As Fairfax Woman

FAIRFAX (CBS SF) - The Marin County coroner's office has identified a person found dead in a burning car near Tomales last week as 58-year-old Nancy Herlands, of Fairfax.

Foul play is not suspected in her death, Marin County Assistant Chief Deputy Coroner Keith Boyd said.

The car was found burning in the parking lot of the Miller Park boat ramp near Nick's Cove on Shoreline Highway south of Tomales around 6 p.m. on Aug. 4.

The investigation into the cause, manner and circumstances of Herlands' death is continuing, Boyd said.

Boyd said dental records and DNA were used to identify the body.
