Daily Madden: The 49er QB Search
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Veteran NFL quarterback Daunte Culpepper will get a workout with the 49ers in Santa Clara Monday. John Madden told the KCBS morning crew that the team should also take a look at retired QB Marc Bulger.
"I think if I were the 49ers, and I would bet they do this, they would bring in every veteran quarterback that comes available," said the former coach.
49er quarterbacks Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick struggled against the New Orleans defense in Friday night's exhibition game. But John said he liked some of what he saw from Kaepernick.
"I'm impressed with him because he's big and he looks like he can make most of the throws, and he can run... When you have a rookie quarterback, he's going to make mistakes and he's going to do things that are bad, but what you're looking for is if he does anything that's good." (9:45)
