Man Airlifted From Farallones During Fishing Trip

FARALLON ISLANDS (CBS SF) — A 65-year-old man was airlifted from a chartered fishing boat near the Farallon Islands Wednesday afternoon, Coast Guard officials said.

The Coast Guard was contacted around noon and was told that a man was suffering from chest pains.

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco dispatched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and a rescue boat to assist.

The man was talking and responsive when Coast Guard officials arrived and he was flown to Stanford Medical Center.

The man was part of a fishing trip on the 50-foot vessel, Captain Hook. The man was one of 14 passengers and there were 16 people aboard the vessel, a Coast Guard official said.

San Francisco and Oakland police were notified and Sausalito police was on standby, according to the Coast Guard.
