Teen Fatally Shot At Antioch Birthday Party

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- Antioch police are investigating a fatal shooting at a birthday party that killed a 16-year-old Oakley boy Saturday night, police said.

Officers responded to a house in the 2800 block of Seville Circle after receiving a report of gunfire around 10:15 p.m., Antioch police said.

KCBS' Bob Butler Reports:

Police found a teenage boy suffering from life-threatening injuries. Medical crews arrived and he was transported to Sutter Delta Medical Center, where he later died. He has not been identified by police.

A 17-year-old girl from Antioch was also injured in the shooting, but she is expected to survive. A friend took her to the hospital, where she was treated for a single gunshot wound and released, police said.

Investigation revealed the two victims were attending a large birthday party at the house. An argument erupted between an unnamed suspect and the 16 year old before the suspect shot him, according to police.

Detectives are still trying to determine exactly what led up to the shooting and the teenage girl's involvement.

Antioch police have not released any suspect information.
