Man Arrested For Vandalizing San Francisco City Hall

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after authorities said he was seen on surveillance video vandalizing the main entrance of San Francisco City Hall.

San Francisco sheriff's deputies were watching a live camera feed of the front of the building when they noticed a man breaking windows and a lantern.

Deputies said he was vandalizing the front entrance to City Hall with the butt end of a knife.

KCBS' Holly Quan Reports:

By the time deputies got to the building, the suspect had smashed in eight window panels along with the glass to the front entrance of the building.

Deputies arrested the unidentified 37-year-old man, who they said was very intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The front steps of City Hall were closed Tuesday morning as crews worked to pick up the large amount of glass that is on the ground in the area.

Officials were asking people to use other entrances to City Hall as they try to repair and clean-up the damage.
