SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - An off-duty San Francisco police officer was driving home in San Francisco when a man shot at his car early Wednesday morning, police said.

The off-duty officer drove away from a man, who police described as only a black man, who ran up to his car around Bayshore Boulevard and Silver Avenue and opened fire at 12:30 a.m.

The officer drove off, but his car was struck by the gunfire, police said.

The suspect got into a Cadillac and fled the area, police said.
