Stockton Mom Accused Of Beating Up Principal Over Dress Code

STOCKTON (CBS) - A principal at a Stockton elementary school has been taken to the hospital after being attacked by an angry parent Monday morning, according to school district officials.

Fillmore Elementary Principal Evangelina Ramos was punched at least twice by a woman who was apparently angry over the school's dress code, according to Stockton Unified Assistant Superintendent Dan Wright.

Wright said Principal Ramos told the mother her child's T-shirt with skulls on it was not appropriate for the school. The child was told to change shirts or turn the shirt inside out in order to return to class.

As Ramos and the child's mother discussed the issue around 9:30 a.m., the woman apparently punched Ramos and was then restrained by two other adults. However, she was able to free herself and punch the principal again and then fled the campus.

Ramos was taken to Dameron Hospital. The extent of her injuries is not clear.

Police later arrested 30-year-old Pami Alaine Gibbs.

Gibbs was booked on two felony charges of battery and criminal threats and three misdemeanors, including hate crime.
