RICHMOND (CBS SF) – Three shootings in Richmond and North Richmond on Monday night left four people wounded, one critically, authorities said Tuesday.

The first shooting happened at about 9:20 p.m. when 911 dispatchers began receiving calls about shots fired in the 1700 block of North Jade Street in North Richmond, Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Deputies went to that neighborhood and found shell casings but no victim. A short time later, the sheriff’s office was informed that a 19-year-old man had turned up at Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo with a gunshot wound.

He was flown by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he was listed in critical condition.

“At this point we have no suspect or suspect vehicle information,” Lee said.

KCBS’ Bob Melrose Reports:

At 10:40 p.m., police in Richmond were alerted about a shooting near Imperial Avenue and Carlson Boulevard.

Police Lt. Bisa French said it appears a group of people in a car had stopped at a Union 76 gas station at that intersection when someone opened fire on them.

Officers arrived to find two shooting victims—one at the gas station and another on the roof of the nearby 40 Flags Motel, police French said.

“He climbed up there to flee the people that were shooting at him,” she said.

Some people in the victims’ group tried to flee in the car but crashed into the wall of the motel, rupturing a gas line, French said.

The motel and part of the surrounding neighborhood were evacuated, and PG&E was called to repair the leak, she said.

Both victims suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, and were taken to hospitals.

A few minutes after that shooting happened, police received word of another shooting near Interstate Highway 80 and Macdonald Avenue.

French said a female driver had entered the highway at Cutting Boulevard and noticed a black car driving next to her car. Someone fired shots at her from the black car and she was hit.

The victim, who was alone in the car, was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

French said a black car was seen leaving the scene of the shooting at the gas station, and police are investigating whether the two shootings are related to each other or the first shooting in North Richmond.
