Oprah Winfrey To Do Facebook Live Chat

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) - Oprah might have been the queen of daytime talk shows, but it seems she has a lot to learn before she reigns on social media. It was announced that Winfrey would be participating in a Facebook Live event on September 8 at 1:30 p.m. PT / 4:30 p.m. ET, and users are encouraged to send in their questions.

This might be a move to expand her presence online. Although she has over six million fans on Facebook and seven million followers on Twitter, the New York Post reports that according to ComScore her website, Oprah.com, isn't getting as many unique users. Although she had 5.1 million users in January, she only had 2.4 million in July. That's why it's rumored that she'll be meeting with top tech executives, including Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, Demand Media's Richard Rosenblatt and LinkedIn's Jeff Weiner, while in Palo Alto, Calif. to figure out how to boost her dwindling numbers.

Social matters to Oprah, especially since the Oprah Winfrey Network isn't doing so hot in the ratings. In February 2011, she only averaged 135,000 people watching the channel at any given time, though they did see some increase in June. Oprah has taken over OWN, and now holds both the CEO and COO positions in the company.

Why do you think that Oprah is failing at her new network? Do you think social media will be her solution? Leave us your thoughts below...
