Bryan Stow’s Medical Costs To Top $50M, Lawyers Say

LOS ANGELES (CBS / AP) — Medical care for the San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten outside Dodger Stadium is expected to cost more than $50 million, according to his lawyers.

The figure was part of a damage estimate included in papers filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to City News Service.

The filings come in a lawsuit Bryan Stow and his children have brought against Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and 13 others in the baseball team’s organization. The suit alleges a lack of security, lighting and other problems at the ballpark.

Stow, a paramedic from Santa Cruz, suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was attacked March 31 following the Dodgers’ home opener against the Giants in Los Angeles.

Stow’s health has been up and down in the months since the near-fatal beating. His doctor, San Francisco General Hospital neurosurgery chief Geoff Manley, has said it’s unclear how long his recovery will take.

After the attack, Stow underwent a life-saving procedure in Los Angeles and was put in a coma for several weeks before being transported to San Francisco to be closer to his family in May.

Two months ago doctors performed emergency surgery on the father of two to remove fluid buildup in his head that caused a seizure.

Last month, Stow’s family said on their website that he is responding with slight movements to some directions, for example raising his left arm when asked if someone could hold his hand.

Manley also said then that Stow was awake and breathing on his own.

After hours calls to Stow’s lawyers were not returned Monday.

Two men have been charged in the attack, and both pleaded not guilty last month.

I like to see like to see the cowards who beat Mr. Strow to come forward with the hope that they will be caught by the police and to be possibly sentenced to death, if Mr. Stow is unable to recover from his injuries These cowards are not real Dodgers fans. They are a bunch of phony ‘fans’ who have no right to represent the Dodgers. Since the Dodgers originally came from Brooklyn, New York, these phony ‘fans’ of the Dodgers could just support the hapless Angeles, and may the devil do them in! In the meant time, Mr. Stow should not give up his fight to live. His family needs him so badly.

$50 million is a lot of money for 1 person. It could easily top $100 million if his condition doesn’t improve.

…” expected to cost more than $50 million, according to his lawyers.”

His lawyers. Who, in the end result, stand to gain millions in payment for Bryan’s representation. Fifty million dollars, just like “all the king’s horses and all the king’s men..” will not put Bryan Stow back together again.
    Litigation leeches.
As a former EMS worker, I know what Bryan could give back to society were he able to recover completely and return to his job. Saving life and limb is good karma.
As a former ICU and ED/Trauma Tech, I can also see that’s not a good probability.
Bryan’s family is going to need that money to tend to Bryan’s needs for the rest of his life. I just hope THEY get the money, and not the lawyers.

My “FATHER, YAHWAY(GOD) WILL bring the cowards to justice, & Bryan will get whatever “FATHER YAHWAY” want’s him too have. I “FERVENTLY PRAYED” that the “COWARDLY PUNK’S” would be brought to justice, & HE has answered. Now i am Praying for Bryan’s Brain too come back to his normal state, & i have “FAITH” it WILL HAPPEN! “ALL THING’S ARE POSSIBLE WITH “FATHER YAHWAY, & HIS SON, YAHSHUA”!With the “RUACH(HOLY SPIRIT” in CONTROL, Bryan, & his family will be “TOTALLY HEALED”, AMEN!

Uhh Fred, I think that if you keep praying for people to stay alive when $50M is spent to keep him alive and find criminals when there is a daily nationwide request for leads, then yes, I am sure your prayers will come true. Unfortunately, God may be a little slower to help if the above is not done for the next person you pray for.
Maybe you can pray for people to get jobs. God is supposed to be a father figure. I thank God that I don’t have a father as cruel and neglectful as he has shown himself to be. I think any parent that says interpret what I am trying to teach you as opposed to helping and nurturing you would lose their kids to protective services. It’s called child abuse.
Everything taught in religion has been shown to have a much more logical answer than what is suopplied by different faiths. Yet nothing that is taught by the religions has withstood the test of time. I will give exception to the 10 commandments, they are still relevant today but that has more to do to the fact that human nature has not changed.
