SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) – Once in a while, you’ll get a whiff of it, and it has nothing to do with the Giants hitting. In this Good Question: What is that smell coming from San Francisco Bay near AT&T Park?

ANSWER: According to Alison Kastama of the Public Utilities Commission, there are a variety of reasons for the smell that often wafts up near AT&T Park. Low tide can create a smell near San Francisco Bay at different times of the year. There is also a sewage treatment plant located near the park that is treated with chlorine to combat smells that often travel through the neighborhood.
