Pickup Truck Seriously Injures San Jose Pedestrian

SAN JOSE (KCBS) – A woman in east San Jose was seriously hurt Wednesday morning when  pickup truck hit her as she crossed the street, police said.

The accident was reported at Alum Rock Avenue and 33rd Street shortly after 6 a.m.   Police said a white 2000 Chevrolet pick-up hit the 45-year-old woman

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

"There was a white truck driving eastbound on Alum Rock in the second lane from the left," said Chan. "And the pedestrian was struck in the crosswalk by the vehicle.

San Jose Police Sergeant Edward Chan said the woman was taken to Regional Medical Center in San Jose.  her injuries were originally believed life-threatening, but Sgt. Chan said updated information indicated the woman was expected to survive.

Police said the 38-year-old driver of the pickup stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the
accident, according to investigators.

Eastbound Alum Rock Avenue at 33rd Street was closed for a time because of the investigation.
