Woman Knocked Unconscious In San Rafael Mugging

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) - San Rafael police are searching for two males who knocked a woman unconscious and robbed her as she was leaving work on Wednesday night.

The woman was leaving Marin Filmworks at 703 Third St. at 8:30 p.m. when she felt something pulling on her purse, which was draped over her right shoulder, San Rafael police said. When she looked back, she saw two males tugging on her handbag.

One suspect punched the woman in the face, knocking her the ground, police said. The other kicked her in her stomach before they took her purse and ran away.

The woman, who lost consciousness during the assault, awoke a short time later. She described the two suspects only as black males wearing black baggy clothing, according to police.

Witnesses are asked to call San Rafael police at (415) 485-3000.
