1 Arrested, 18-Year-Old Wanted In Fairfield Student-Athlete Murder

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) - Police arrested one man and were seeking another suspect for a shooting death and robbery of a college student at his Fairfield residence Wednesday, police said.

An autopsy was scheduled Friday for 21-year-old Ennis Johnson II, a Solano Community College student-athlete. Fairfield police have arrested 23-year-old Kenneth Darnell Franklin for the murder.

Franklin, a Fairfield resident, wass scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon in Solano County Superior Court. He was being held in Solano County Jail under no bail.

Police were looking for a second suspect, Hasan McCaulie, 18, who has addresses in Vallejo and Richmond, Fairfield police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said.

Johnson was specifically targeted by his associates and was robbed during the murder, Hurlbut said.

One of Johnson's parents called police around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday after finding Johnson bloody and unconscious in a bedroom at their home at The Pointe Apartments complex at 2550 Hilborn Road.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:26 p.m., the Solano County coroner's office said.

McCaulie is a black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, Hurlbut said.

He is believed to have several handguns and is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information about McCaulie is asked to call the local police agency where he is seen or Fairfield police at (707) 428-7300 or (707) 644-STOP.

Johnson, a sophomore, was a starting linebacker on the Solano Community College football team and a member of the basketball team, according to Peter Bostic, the college's public affairs director.

Head football coach Floyd Burnsed said Johnson "was well liked by the team and always a positive influence for us."

He was majoring in technology and electronics and planned to transfer to a university, Bostic said.

Johnson graduated from Armijo High School in Fairfield.
