Mother, Child Robbed Of Gold Jewelry In Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A mother and her child were the victims Thursday morning of what has become a series of gold chain robberies in Oakland, police said.

Two suspects allegedly robbed gold jewelry from a mother and her child in the 4700 block of Bancroft Ave. around 9:40 a.m., police said.

The suspects were described as two African-American males—a man and what appeared to be an 11-year-old boy. They were not found after the robbery, police said.

Suspects in previous robberies have been arrested, but police are looking for other groups of suspects that have continued to commit these gold chain robberies.

Police are investigating this most recent incident and advise residents to be aware of their surroundings, stay in well-lit areas and wear jewelry underneath clothing while traveling.

Residents can program the Oakland police emergency number into their cellphones and call (510) 777-3211 if someone or something looks suspicious.
