Santa Clara Homes Hit By String Of Bike Thefts

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) – A number of bicycle thefts have been reported throughout residential areas of Santa Clara, police said Thursday.

Many of the thefts have occurred at apartment complexes north of the stretch of U.S. Highway 101 that cuts through the city. Other bikes were taken from single-family homes.

Police said the suspect is taking the bicycles from balconies or patios. Many of the stolen bicycles were unlocked and the thefts have occurred at various times of the day and night.

There is no suspect description and police are seeking the public’s help to track down the culprit.

    This is NOT 1925 from a crime standpoint. The basic premise is that locking up property diminishes theft.

    this happens all the time, everywhere. if you don’t lock your stuff up, it gets stolen.

    Unfortunately locking your belongings makes no difference. If some degenorate animal wants it….they’re goning to take it. You are correct…it’s not 1925. Back then, people had respect for other people’s stuff and actually took pride in keeping an eye out for eachother. Sadly not the case anymore
