SF Hotel Employee Beaten By Would-Be Guest At SoMa Hotel

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man who was denied entry into a residential hotel in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood brutally beat the hotel employee who would not let him in on Thursday evening, police said.

The attack was reported at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Civic Center Hotel, located at 20 12th St.

The suspect, believed to be in his mid 20s, tried to enter the hotel but was denied entry by a 59-year-old man working there, according to police.

The employee was then punched repeatedly in the head by the man, who ran away and has not been found, police said.

The employee was taken to California Pacific Medical Center's Davies campus with injuries that are considered life-threatening, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

Anyone with information about the attack is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
