3 Hurt, 3 Arrested In Candlestick Brawl After 49ers-Cowboys Game

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Three people were arrested after a fight outside a San Francisco 49ers game at Candlestick Park on Sunday that injured three others, police said.

At about 5 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a fight in the parking lot outside the stadium, where the 49ers had just lost to the Dallas Cowboys 27-24 in overtime.

The officers found one person bleeding from the head and detained three suspects believed to have assaulted the victim and his friend, according to police.

Investigators believe the fight started because the victim was standing behind the suspects’ car and did not allow them to back out. An argument ensued, and the suspects got out of the car and assaulted the victim, police said.

The suspects hit the victim in the head with a flashlight and bottle, and when the victim’s friend tried to step in, he was punched in the head.

A security guard who witnessed the altercation tried to stop the fight but was attacked as well, and was punched several times in the head, according to police.

After officers arrested the three suspects, whose names have not been released, they searched the car and found a pistol hidden beneath a beanie cap in the center console, police said.

The three victims were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries and were later released.

San Francisco police stepped up patrols around Candlestick Park after several violent incidents marred a 49ers preseason game against the Oakland Raiders last month.

Wow, another “Straight Pride Parade” that I missed! Those hetros, they’re so mischievous. I don’t approve of their “life style choice”; but I’m sorry I missed their parade.

    • Chris

Hey Taxthe chruches, How do you know they aren’t “pipe smokers”? I’m sure you get aroused by reading about men with “loads” of testosterone!

    • 9erFan

      Another dumass chimes in.

      • foreveryoung8

Could not agree with this comment any more!

  • jayman

so what is the excuse this time? cant blame the big bad raiders fans, 49ers fans need to look at themselves for the problem

    • Stumpy907

Its a California thing………don’t hear about this “stuff” happening anywhere else.

    • Alex420

Yeah, in OT is really whooping it bro’. I’ll bet against that team every single time.

  • Choice

If people keep fighting in the parking lots after games…. someone could decide that it is time to shut the games down for the safety of all.
So grow up folks…. it is just a game and not worth hurting others over.

    • SweetT

Your sentiments make a lot of sense Choice! Can we just all get along and enjoy the game(s)?

    • WildChild

And the way it looks, probably sooner than later. These stupid stupid men are ruining it for the all of us!!! Bet your mommmy’s are real proud of their baby boys now!!!

  • Big Red

Get their names on a no-sell list. The suspects should never be allowed to attend a sporting event again (pro, college, or high school).

  • ron

Can’t help but think alcohol was involved somehow. Why would the vic block the car? If someone was blocking my car at a game I would just get the cops.

  • Ken

We Niner fans are quickly losing our “wine and cheese” image. LOL

  • SweetT

BTW Scott, I agreed with you until your last statement. *tsk tsk*

  • Rob Wright

Hello, you guys listening…….# 1. Stop ALL selling of beer afyer the 3rd period. # 2. No after the game tailgating, zero….go home people. # 3. Cut down toon the time for tailgating prior to the game. # 4. Test people coming into the game for being already over the 0.8 and deny them into the game.

    • Stumpy907

      Wait where are we Russia?!?!!?!?!?

    • WildChild

Excellent ideas….Now if we could only put that to a vote….I mean surely these people that is well over intoxicated shouldn’t be driving anywhere anyways, maybe they think if they hang out in the parking lot for awhile they’ll sober up. There’s always going to be the few idiots out there that ruin a good thing and a good time for everyone. GO COWBOYS!!! Way to put a OVERTIME whoop azz on the 49er’s!!!

  • SweetT

Wow David…does it really matter? No certain individuals with certain last names proves anything in this world anymore. Who’s to say all of the parties involved were 70-80 years old, each with a reversed name like yours”David”, and Whocares? :)

    • Christopher Bree

open your eyes sister! if you haven’t noticed by now, a lot of gangs are rocking certain jerseys and root for certain teams because of the color. if you watched the clips of the fights that broke out last time you can see that the majority of them were gang bangers..maybe you should tailgate and have a beer with them one day and see how that turns out…i’m just sayinnn..

    • 9erFan

Very real possibility that David is correct despite your trite reply.

  • Darrell Lahman

And they say Raiders games are dangerous?? Whats up with the winers?

  • compressor

Ah! The new West Coast Offense!

  • NoFace

As if white boy gangs are any better??

My point being that gangs are gangs, and @holes are @holes no matter the ethnicity….

  • NoFace

A part of me agrees that this is wrong, another part says “phuck the Cowboys”!

  • comments r us

Welcome to the new America. Thugville… I’m so sick and bored of all the macho b and s…. Who do these people think they impress…?

  • T

The scary part is the police found a gun in the car.. Lucky no one was killed..
    People it’s just a game..

    • Stumpy907

Whats scary is you dont think people need a gun to protect themselves……”read gun control”……..they had a gun but used a flashlight and a bottle……..!

And it wasnt about a game…….its about someone not getting out of the way of a car trying to leave the stadium and not moving out the way………….

You gotta read the article first before posting a comment….

  • Born2mack

When people started 2get killed at soccer games in Europe and the rest of the world, they punished the home team by not letting any fans into the games. The NFL wouldn’t do that because $$$$ trumps violence….

  • brian

i am a republican and i think that its ok if these people beat each other up if they make less than $100,000 a year.

  • vanderbilt

I totally agree with you, and ESPECIALLY your end comment.

  • JJ

Alex Smith at QB is the source for all this fan frustration…

  • Samuel A. Maffei

Well, keep letting folks get drunk as skunks in the parking lots before games. The NFL and media promotes tailgating as a “right of passage”. If tailgating were stopped, these incidents would be non-existent.

    • Chris

Typical response. Blame everybody that tailgates instead of punishing the few thugs who are causing trouble. You stinking liberals gotta go!

  • Stumpy907

    Pete I don’t think that matters anymore………could be rednecks…..oh sorry “Appalachian Americans”……

  • Lars

    California knows how to PARTY!!

  • joe

if it were a real football game w/ real football teams there wouldn’t be any such problems… if troy were playing joe then we might care… let ’em all kill themselves in the parking lot… one, two maybe more fewer responsibilities for the taxpayers…

  • Chris

The most honest statement posted on here yet!

  • Mayale11

I saw the whole thing…and no offence but your article is BS!!! The guy stood in the front of the other guys veicle and wouldn’t let them get out…The driver then got out and told him to move…The guy standing in front of the van began to insult the guy from the other vehicle and when the guy in the vehicle got out the other guy took a swing…then more guys got in the fight…and that’s when the other 2 individuals in the other vehicle got in the fight cause his friend was being attacked by several individuals. Unfortunately, the guys who started the fight were the ones that got injured. But the ones who were arrested were not at fault. And the security NEVER got in the fight!!! Their answer when someone asked to get in and separate the fight was “We can’t get in, we have to wait for the police”.
