Grass Fire Burns In Hercules

HERCULES (CBS SF) - Firefighters were battling a two-alarm grass fire in Hercules Thursday that charred 20 acres and was mostly contained, a fire battalion chief said.

Firefighters from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Cal Fire and the Hercules Fire Department responded to the blaze with 75 firefighters, 17 fire engines, three bulldozers, a helicopter and two air tankers, Battalion Chief Bob Atlas said.

The fire was reported at 11:25 a.m. in a grassy area behind 245 Carson St. No structures were threatened and no injuries have been reported.
