Murder Suspect Arrested After Oakland School Lockdown

OAKLAND (CBS SF) — A suspect who was wanted for a homicide in San Leandro was arrested near Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland around 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to Oakland police spokeswoman Holly Joshi.

Joshi said a perimeter that was set up by police led to authorities imposing a lockdown at Bishop O’Dowd, which is located at 9500 Stearns Ave., as well as at the nearby Barack Obama Academy at 9736 Lawlor St.

The lockdowns have ended and students at both schools are now heading home for the day, she said.

Joshi said she will have more information on the homicide arrest later on Wednesday.
