Storm Blows Through Bay Area With Heavy Rain, Power Outages
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - An early fall storm has brought intense rain and wind to the Bay Area and much of California Wednesday.
CBS 5's Lawrence Karnow reports that some areas of the North Bay were hit by as many as two inches of rain overnight. Karnow said a smaller band of showers will likely slide through the Bay Area around the afternoon commute, bringing the possiblity of thunderstorms with it.
The Wednesday commute was marked with a number of weather-related traffic incidents. Meanwhile, strong winds knocked out power to approximately 1,700 Pacific Gas & Electric customers throughout the Bay Area.

Downed trees dotted different parts of the Bay Area. Among them, a tree that fell onto state Highway 9 near the Santa Clara-Santa Cruz County border blocked all traffic for a time early Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Motorists on the San Mateo, Dumbarton, Bay and Richmond bridges were met by high wind advisories, according the CHP.
The advisories were issued at the bridges between 1:07 a.m. and 1:43 a.m. and were still in effect as of 4:30 a.m.
