Santa Rosa Hit-And-Run Leaves Victim With Life Threatening Injuries

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) — A vehicle struck an intoxicated man when he walked into lanes of traffic on Stony Brook Road in Santa Rosa late Saturday night, police said.

Santa Rosa police responded to the scene at 10:30 p.m. to find the victim on Stony Brook Road over state Highway 12. He was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries to his upper body, police said.

The preliminary investigation determined the victim was struck in the southbound lanes of Stony Brook as he was walking or standing in the traffic lanes.

One witness said the suspect vehicle struck the victim and fled southbound on Stony Brook. The witness also reported that the vehicle did not appear to avoid hitting the man, police said.

The Santa Rosa Police Department Traffic Bureau is investigating the hit-and-run and anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Officer Dan Hackett at (707) 543-3636.

Stony Point Road, not Stony Brook Road, crosses Hwy 12 in Santa Rosa.

Well, the victim was drunk, and I have to wonder how drunk the driver was? If there was nothing wrong with the driver, what is he/she afraid of? I have never, and don’t think I could just leave after I hit someone, doesn’t make sense.

    Boy, that’s a great description: “a vehicle”.

You have a person that saw the incident but absolutely no description of the vehicle is provided. Great reporting as usual CBS.
