18-Year-Old Dies In San Jose Shooting

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - A young man died from gunshot wounds sustained in a Monday night shooting in San Jose.

The unidentified 18-year-old had been rushed to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, but he did not survive.

The shooting was reported at 8:56 p.m. in the 1700 block of Ross Circle. Responding police officers found the young man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He died sometime before midnight, according to police.

The teen becomes San Jose's 38th homicide of the year, and the fifth killing in that specific area of San Jose in less than two weeks.

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

The police department had already announced plans for a Tuesday morning news conference to address the recent rise in homicides and officer-involved shootings. It's now expected that more information about Monday night's shooting will be released at that time.
