SF Muni Rider Robbed Of iPad During Pepper Spray Mugging

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man was pepper-sprayed and robbed of an iPad and cellphone while riding a San Francisco Municipal Railway light-rail vehicle on Wednesday evening, police said.

The robbery occurred at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on an M-Ocean View train that was traveling in the 4000 block of 19th Avenue in the city's Ingleside Heights neighborhood.

The 26-year-old victim was approached by a suspect who grabbed the iPad out of his hands. Then a second suspect approached and sprayed him in the face with the pepper spray and grabbed his cellphone, according to police.

The suspects, described only as men in their early 20s, then fled from the Muni vehicle and had not been found as of Thursday morning, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the attack but did not require hospitalization.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
