San Rafael Fast Food Restaurant Reopens After Bathroom Hazmat Scare

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) - A Wendy's restaurant in San Rafael was closed for three hours Tuesday afternoon after someone sprayed an unknown substance in the men's room, San Rafael fire Chief Christopher Gray said.

The Marin County Hazardous Materials Unit never determined what was sprayed on the walls of the bathroom of the eatery at 910 Andersen Drive, Gray said.

Customers said a man went into the restroom around 12:30 p.m. and quickly left. The next man who used the restroom reported feeling nauseous, Gray said.

He felt better after he was given oxygen and did not need further treatment, Gray said.

The hazardous materials unit washed down the bathroom walls and the restaurant re-opened around 3:30 p.m., Gray said.
