Daily Madden: Tebow Is Not Ready To Play

OAKLAND (KCBS) - The Oakland Raiders face the struggling Denver Broncos and second year quarterback Tim Tebow this weekend. Can the college football star mature into a good NFL quarterback?

"He's not ready to play," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "What he could do in college was a little different from what you have to do as a pro. I don't know that they've adapted or adjusted to what he did best. He's a little late with everything in the pocket and reading and everything. He really doesn't have it now... and then you question or wonder if he's ever going to get it."

The Raiders have signed free agent receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who played with new Oakland quarterback Carson Palmer in Cincinnati.

"It's kind of a band-aid here in that he has experience," Madden said. "The plus is he not only has experience... but has experience playing with Carson Palmer. So that would be the part of it that would probably help for a little while... It's a short term thing. This isn't any long term fix." (7:35)
