3 Arrested After Alleged Attack On Occupy San Jose Protester

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - An Occupy San Jose protester was allegedly attacked by a group of people in a fight early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 1:40 a.m., officers saw a fight at the intersection of East Santa Clara and Fourth streets. They intervened and arrested Anthony Armenta, 27, of San Jose on suspicion of assaulting, battering and fighting with a 39-year-old Occupy participant.

Manuel Alvarado, 27, of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor interfering with a peace officer and battery on a peace officer, according to police.

Officers also arrested 27-year-old Samuel Sanchez, of San Jose, on suspicion of misdemeanor assault-and-battery against a 41-year-old San Jose woman, who saw Armenta attack the Occupy protester and tried to intervene.

Two other men who were part of the fight with the protester fled and were not found, police said.
