More Than 50 Roosters Found In Morgan Hill Cockfighting Raid

MORGAN HILL (CBS SF) -- More than 50 roosters and cockfighting paraphernalia as well as a bobcat carcass were found during a drug raid of a property in unincorporated Morgan Hill, police said Tuesday.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Marijuana Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on the property on Sleepy Valley Road near Armsby Lane around 7 a.m. on Monday, according to Sgt. Jose Cardoza.

Henry Arnibal, 38, was found living in a trailer on the property.  He was arrested after detectives found 50 roosters, some of which had been altered for cockfighting and several "gaffs," or blades used in cockfighting.  He was also found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a .22 rifle, as well as a bobcat carcass.

The Department of Fish and Game will be conducting a follow-up investigation on this case, Cardoza said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (408) 808-4410 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 808-4431.
