Daily Madden: The Raiders Take Charge In San Diego
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Raiders dominated the Chargers in San Diego Thursday night, but only won by a touchdown. Quarterback Carson Palmer, running back Michael Bush and receiver Denarius Moore all shined in the 24-17 victory.
"Michael Bush is a heck of a back," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew.
Bush ran for 157 yards and caught passes for 58 more.
"He has to do what he would normally do in a game, plus what (Darren) McFadden would do in a game. And that's exactly what he did."
McFadden is the other Raiders running back who is sidelined by injury.
John said he's excited about Sunday's game between the 7-1 49ers and the 6-2 New York Giants.
"These two teams are a lot alike," Madden said. "They're going to run the ball, they play strong defense. They're well coached. They have good techniques. They're solid."
John said the key to a 49ers victory will be a strong running game.
"The Giants rush the passer as well as anyone in this league, I think. So the secret for the 49ers is to stay out of those types of things where you have to pass... I think it will be a real battle of two solid teams." (9:10)
