Man Found Shot Dead In Wrecked Car On I-80 In Vallejo

VALLEJO (CBS SF) - A man in a car on the shoulder of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vallejo was found dead with gunshot wounds late Thursday night, Vallejo police said.

The California Highway Patrol and Vallejo Fire Department responded to a report of a traffic collision on the freeway east of Tennessee Street around 11:58 p.m., police said.

A vehicle was found in the bushes on the shoulder of the road between Tennessee Street and Redwood Parkway. Officials discovered the driver had suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Medical personnel pronounced the 28-year-old man dead at the scene, police said.

His identity has not been released.

The killing was the city's 13th homicide of the year, according to police.
