San Jose Man Found Safe After Carjack, Kidnapping; Suspect Flees
SAN JOSE (KCBS) – A man was carjacked and kidnapped at gunpoint in San Jose on Thursday evening before being found safe later that night, police said Friday.
A man armed with a gun confronted the owner of a white Chevrolet Camaro at 7:09 p.m. in the Third Street Garage, a parking garage located at 95 N. Third St., according to San Jose police.
The gunman took the Camaro and kidnapped the vehicle’s owner during the carjacking, police said.
Officers launched an intense search for the sports car, even employing the department’s SWAT team.
KCBS’ Matt Bigler Reports:

The vehicle was abandoned and the suspect was seen running south on 17th Street from East Santa Clara Street, police spokesman Officer Jose Garcia said.
“We did recover the car and we hope to obtain evidence from the vehicle and hopefully identify the suspect,” Garcia said.
During the suspect search, residents in the area were asked to shelter in place. However, police came up empty and the search was called off at 3:52 a.m.
