San Jose State Edges UC Irvine 51-50

SAN JOSE (CBS / AP) -- Keith Shamburger made two free throws with 6.2 seconds left, lifting San Jose State to a 51-50 victory over UC Irvine on Monday night.

UC Irvine's Adam Folker grabbed teammate Aaron Wright's miss and appeared to score the game-winning shot, but after a lengthy video review officials determined that Folker's shot didn't beat the buzzer.

Shamburger led the Spartans (1-1) with 12 points despite shooting just 3 for 12 from the field and 1 for 5 from 3-point range. Will Carter had 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Calvin Douglas scored 10 for the Spartans.

Wright, a freshman guard, led UC Irvine (0-2) with 14 points and freshman forward Will Davis II had 12 points and nine rebounds.  Folker had eight points and nine rebounds for the Anteaters.
