Occupy San Jose Protesters Target Homes Of Mayor Reed, City Manager

SAN JOSE (KCBS) - Occupy San Jose protesters took their message to the homes of city leaders days after being prevented from re-establishing a City Hall encampment.

Over the weekend, Occupy protesters gathered on the front yards of Mayor Chuck Reed and City Manager Debra Figone, chanting slogans and even temporarily pitching tents in driveways.

The demonstrators said they were angry that the city denied them a permit to camp out at City Hall.

"They've actually just forced us to go viral and mobile and that's exactly what we've done," one woman explained. "So when they find us on their front lawns they have to think did they put us on their front lawns or did we put us on their front lawns?"

The protesters now describe themselves as a "mobile occupation."

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

The protesters scattered after police showed up and informed them that they would be arrested. Mayor Reed was home at the time.

"Not really a big deal," Reed said, "but it seems like they're going to go from Occupy San Jose to annoy San Jose and I just don't think that's a good tactic for trying to get the public behind them."
