San Jose Police Search For Crew Of Prolific Taggers

SAN JOSE (KCBS) – San Jose police were searching Wednesday for members of a graffiti tagging crew suspected of causing more than $50,000 in damage.

Because of reduced staffing San Jose Police have developed a task force approach in dealing with graffiti vandalism.

"We know that there are some very prolific taggers in the city and they're causing some very expensive damage to the city and to private businesses," said San Jose Police Sergeant Jason Dwyer. "We're sending these officers out and they're conducting really good investigations to find out who's responsible for it, and then go after those guys to get them in custody."

KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:

Although officers said that some arrests have been made, there are still many more taggers out there.

Dwyer said that despite police cutbacks, the department is committed to reducing graffiti vandalism as much as they can.
