Bay Area Fog Delays Flights At SFO

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Dense ground fog around the Bay Area Sunday morning was affecting travel on various roadways and impacting flights at San Francisco International Airport.

Foggy conditions at SFO were impacting domestic West Coast flights, causing arrivals to be about 30 minutes behind schedule as of 10:15 a.m., a duty manager said.

Afternoon departures were expected to be impacted by delays as well.

Dense fog advisories were issued for multiple bridges around the Bay Area, including the San Mateo Bridge, the Dumbarton Bridge, the Benicia Bridge and the Carquinez Bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Motorists were also advised to expect heavy fog and low visibility on inland roadways until mid-afternoon.

Drivers were advised to reduce speeds, turn on headlights and leave plenty of space between vehicles.
