Dungeness Season Underway As Crab Fishermen Settle On Price

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) -- After weeks of haggling over a price, central California crab fishermen and seafood processors have come to an agreement and the 2011 Dungeness season is underway.

Zeke Grader, executive director of the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen's Associations, said that the parties agreed Monday to $2.25 a pound.

The agreement comes after a two-week delay that kept fresh crab off of most Thanksgiving dinner tables.

Now, boats from San Francisco, Half Moon Bay and Bodega Bay will head out to sea to sink their crab pots.

After a record catch in 2010, expectations are high for another strong year.

Commercial crab fisherman last year hauled in about 19 million pounds, blowing previous records out of the water.
